Industrialists such as Carnegie, Vanderbilt, and Rockefeller should be viewed as “robber barons”. They did achieve great accomplishments like growing out of the poor and into the rich. They even used successful tactics like “horizontal integration” and “vertical integration” but they used their good for bad. They had trusts in which they controlled other businesses and made corrupt decisions. It was so bad that the government had to create a law against what they were doing and had to put a stop to it. Instead of using their powers for good and helping the poor, they kept their power within themselves and look down in the people. It was like America was becoming a monarch again with one person or group of people had power over everyone else.
